Welcome Sherry!

I'm very excited to have Sherry with us this month! I think Sherry was one of the first persons I met through an online scrapbook community 6 years ago. She's so incredibly talented and super sweet. Read about Sherry's organizational ideas for her creative space and leave a comment to Welcome her at Emma's Paperie! Check out what she picked as her Favorite Things at the end for a chance to win it all!

Meet Sherry Wright:

Hi there, it’s Sherry and I’m thrilled to be here as guest designer for Emma’s Paperie! I’m 29 plus 5 ;0), live in northern Michigan with my husband of almost 15 years, son (5), 2 cats, 1 dog, and lots of birds and wildlife. I work full-time as a home care physical therapist traveling four counties and enjoy every minute!

I started scrapbooking after my son was born and I was given a kit at my baby shower. Living in a rural area, I had no LSS, but after I found all the on-line stores and communities I was quickly hooked. I soon branched off into creating home décor, altered items, cards, and stamped projects. I’ve enjoyed working for several manufacturers and magazines since then and always find my creative time relaxing and a great break from my “day job”. My creative time is usually after my son goes to bed on the weekends or the rare times he takes a nap.

When I’m not crafting or working, I’m spending time with family, camping, boating, or tending to my many gardens.

My scraproom has slowly evolved from a spot on the dining room table to a closet and now a scraproom/playroom in the finished basement. For Christmas one year my husband installed kitchen cabinets and countertops, bookshelves, and a play and art area for my son. It’s the best of both worlds, we can now play and create together! Now it’s nothing fancy since we have no cool organizational stores around here, but I love it! Here’s a view of the Target cubes I ordered on-line and my counter space (sorry for the bad photos but basement lighting isn’t the best):

The row on bookshelves to store toys and my ever growing collection of goodies:

The work in progress of organizing my zillions of buttons by color using the Melissa Frances jars from Emma’s:

The over the door ribbon organizer my Dad built me for my ribbon addiction ( I think I need another, lol):

My ScrapRack:

My newest addition, one of my Clip it Ups, these things store a ton and make things so easy to find:

A row of storage containers for my newest goodies:

I try to keep everything organized by color, theme, or manufacturer. My stamping supplies in one place and my most used supplies within reach. While I create my space looks like a tornado went through, but I always clean up between projects so I can find everything.

Thanks for getting to know me and peeking at my space. I try to share my creations on my blog: www.sherrywright.typepad.com and would love it if you stopped by! :0)

Here are "Sherry's Favorite Things" that she hand-picked for one lucky winner! Leave a comment on this thread welcoming Sherry and I will draw a name using a random number generator on June 16th. Check back on the 15th of this month too for more Ideas & Inspiration!

1 Product, 5 Ways Workshop

This month the Product Workshop is Pillow Boxes. The girls used Mini, Medium and Large ones.....check out the fantastic ideas they created!

Friendship Large Pillow Box by Wendy Sue Anderson

Large Pillow Boxes
Dill Blossom Poi Paper by SEI
Dill Blossom Ginger Paper by SEI
Spring Fling Flower Beds Paper by Pink Paislee
Spring Fling Die-Cut Shapes by Pink Paislee
Addie Blossoms Box Collection by Making Memories
Noteworthy Scallop Sheer Green Trim by Making Memories

Instructions:

1. Paint the ends of the pillow box. You don’t have to paint the entire box because most of it will be covered with patterned paper. Paint the flaps and 1-2 inches past the flap. I used Making Memories paint, but you could use any paint. I’ve even used spray paint before – it works great!
2. Cut two strips of cardstock. The poi (teal) is 1 ½” x 12” and the ginger (cream) is 2 ¼” x 12”.
3. Layer the strips and machine stitch
4. When the wrong side of my stitching won’t show, I like to use scotch tape to secure the ends – rather than back-stitching or trying to pull the strings through and tie them. It’s faster and easier.
5. Next, add a strip of ribbon down the center of the layered cardstock pieces.
6. Thread a button with white thread – secure in the back with a knot. Add button to center of paper flower.
7. Remove the die-cut tag from the sheet, add foam squares to the back (for dimension), place in center of layered strip.
8. Now create a loop with ribbon at the bottom of the tag, tie a knot with a second piece of ribbon and place over the loop. Add the flower to the top of the tag.
9. Attach the completed strip to the center of a full sheet of patterned paper.
10. Wrap paper around pillow box, secure well on front and back.

Instructions:

1. Wrap 2 strips of coordinating paper around pillow box and secure on backside.
2. Wrap ribbon around center of pillow box and tie in a bow on top.
3. Wrap die cut label around pillow box, just above center and secure sides on back.
4. Apply rubon to small die cut label and attach to center of large die cut label using dimensional adhesive.
5. Create a matching card by wrapping ribbon around bottom portion of match box card and tying in a knot.

Baby Boy Medium Pillow Box Set by Anabelle O'Malley

Happy Birthday Medium Pillow Box by Jessica Witty

Medium Kraft Pillow Box
Voila! Die-Cut Ivory Felt Art Strips by Prima

Instructions:

1. Assemble box. Hold paper to front of box, flip box over, and trace edges. Cut out.
2. Hold paper panel to front of box and place felt strip over it as desired. Trace the bottom edge of the felt strip onto the panel and cut out.
3. Adhere paper to box. Trace felt flowers on paper scraps, cut out, and adhere to box along with the felt strip. Place the strip over the paper edge, trimming along the edge of the box as necessary.
4. Flatten box. Stamp sentiment. Assemble box.
5. Adhere extra felt piece to the top edge of the box.
